Meet our colleagues in Bolivia
In Bolivia, we have a uVolunteer representative staff that works to provide a fulfilling and safe volunteer abroad experience. The staff members in Bolivia are not only a part of the uVolunteer team, but also natives that can offer advice only known by locals. Like all of our programs, each volunteer will have 24-hour connection with uVolunteer in-country staff.
Kattia Oblitas - Program Manager
Kattia joined the uVolunteer team in 2007. She is our Program Director for Bolivia. Kattia graduated with a degree in tourism and hotel management, from the San Andres Major University. Since 1997 she has lived in Santa Cruz, working in various hotels and teaching folk dancing. Currently, Kattia and her husband, Alvaro work together to create a perfect volunteering experience for uVolunteers. Alvaro is an architect and chef. With Kattia’s experience and Alvaro’s excellent cooking abilities, they make for the ideal Bolivian home stay experience. While working with uVolunteer, Kattia has achieved very positive feedback from all volunteers. With her hard work and positivity, Kattia hopes to encourage volunteering in her Cruceña community.
Hugo and Carmen Oblitas - Volunteer Coordinators
Parents of Kattia, Hugo and Carmen help volunteers achieve an understanding of the Bolivian culture. Hugo, a photographer and Carmen, a teacher are both retired and love to spend their free time dancing tango. They play an important role by being the main source of information and sharing stories of traditional Bolivian way of life. Hugo and Carmen also plan social activities with the local community.
