Museum of Contemporary Art: The aim of this project is to increase awareness and appreciation of art amongst the people of Bolivia. You will work in two governmental institutions in Santa Cruz de la Sierra; the Museum of Contemporary Art and La Casa de La Cultura (House of Culture). Both exhibit and conserve artwork from international and local artists. The museum will be your primary workspace and is based in an old colonial building a couple of blocks away from the main plaza.

The museum also tries to implement educational aspects for the youth of Santa Cruz and often organizes events for children. Introducing art at a young age will help increase kids’ creativity and expressiveness.

Institute for Audiovisual Learning and Video Editing: The objective of this project is to develop specialists in audiovisual techniques. It is a low income school that aims to give students a better future.

What will I be doing?

Museum of Contemporary art: Working on this project means that you will help organize and set up art exhibitions, as well as design promotional material such as invitations, folders, flyers and online promotion ads. Exhibitions will change monthly and you will work side by side with the museums’ curator and cultural board. This project also gives you a chance to meet and work with Bolivia’s local artists as well as get a taste of the art scene in Santa Cruz.

Institute for Audiovisual Learning and Video Editing: In this small institute you will help out the teacher in the classroom. Your tasks could range from supervising classes to helping the students with their projects and interchanging knowledge about audiovisual programs. If you are confident, you might also be asked to lead classes on your own. The institute has over a 1000 students, with about 15 students in each class. The students are age 19 and older.
