Project Summary:
The San Juan de Dios Orphanage houses orphans between the ages of 0-5 years old. These children have been abandoned by their parents or have been victims of abuse. The children lack parent role models in their lives and need the support of the orphanage in order to reinforce their morals and values and more importantly to receive emotional support.
Many of the orphans are still overcoming the trauma they have experienced, and as a result they require individualized attention and care. Volunteers play a crucial role in the lives of these children as they provide the children with much needed emotional reinforcement and affection.
You will be responsible for the care of a few children and your daily task will be to give each of them personal attention and create meaningful bonds through teaching them morals and values that they can use in later stages in life.
Monday - Sunday, 4 hours per day.
You should enjoy interacting with children and be open-minded to challenging situations that may arise while caring for the children on a daily basis. Motivation is a very important tool and a basic level of Spanish would be helpful.
Donations of books, pens, notebooks, games etc are welcomed.
