Project Summary:
The language school in Sucre allows individuals from lower class neighborhoods to have the opportunity to learn basic English language skills without paying a penny. These free classes are part of a community development program that is aimed at improving the standard of living of low-income individuals who have the motivation and drive to make a change in their own lives.
Since the classes are offered free of charge, the classes tend to attract a large number of people. With the help of volunteers, the classes can be broken down into smaller groups, allowing the students to receive much more personal and tailored education.
As a volunteer, you are responsible for teaching them basic English language skills and motivating them to advance to higher levels of English competency. Depending on your past teaching experiences and your level of comfort within the classroom, you may choose to work as an assistant teacher or you may lead your own classes.
Monday to Friday 3-5 hours per day.
You should have advanced English language skills, but no prior experience with teaching is required, as the language school will give you an introduction to their teaching methods.
Any donations of books, videos, cassettes, reading books, English games are welcome.
