Costa Rica is home to the uVolunteer headquarters. In San Ramon, we have a diverse group of staff members from all over the world. Our international team consists of ex-volunteers and locals, which makes for a multi-cultural head office. With this diversity and experience, we are able to give the best advice to all prospective participants and partners. Above all, our team is committed and has a very strong passion for creating the ideal volunteer abroad experience for our volunteers.

Suphaporn Chanpum - Accounts & Finance

Suphaporn Chanpun, known as ‘Meaw’ is originally from Thailand. In 2002, she finished her study in Thailand with an Associates of Art from FGCC, the first global community college. After her studies she took a year off to work and learn German in Munich. Upon Meaw ‘s return to Thailand, she worked as a volunteer coordinator for a leading volunteer abroad agency in Thailand. Meaw then moved to London for a short while before joining us as our head quarters office manager in Nov, 2006. Meaw enjoys travelling and learning how to cook local food, experiencing new cultures and languages. She spends her free time learning how to sew, growing vegetables in the office garden and taking advanced English Classes at the British Institute.

Suri Solis Garcia - Community Liaisons Officer

Suri is in charge of Public Relations in Costa Rica. He establishes current and future partner relationships all throughout the country. Suri worked in community relations for the University of Costa Rica, upon self imposed early retirement Suri operates as the link between the community and uVolunteer. He is the person we go to for anything that may arise. Suri was born in Nandayure, in the province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica. He has lived in San Ramón since he was 8 years old. Suri has a Bachelors in Communication and Business Administration. He enjoys art and cultural activities, especially traditional Mexican dance that he has been practicing for many years. Suri loves all types of physical activities and has vast knowledge of Latin American history.

Fiorella Duran Montoya - Volunteer Coordinator

Fiorella Duran studies Biology at the University of Costa Rica in San Ramón. Before beginning her studies, Fiorella lived abroad for 1 year in New York. There she was able to practice and master English. Upon her return to Costa Rica Fiorella started working as a volunteer coordinator for uVolunteer. She loves her job because she gets to meet new people from all around and learns about their culture. Fiorella aims to improve the quality of life of the people and environment in Costa Rica. She is the main first and main port of call for our volunteers in Costa Rica. PURA VIDA!

David Styles - Web Developer

David moved to Costa Rica in May to help with Web Development and building the business management system for uVolunteer. A computer science graduate from England, David worked in the IT industry in England before volunteering in Thailand, initially for 4 months, which turned into 4 years when he was offered a job managing his volunteer organizations website. Whilst in Thailand David worked with uVolunteer founder Nathaniel who offered him the chance to come and work in Costa Rica.

Xenia Vargas Artavia - Volunteer Dorm Manager

Xenia is a native of San Ramón, Costa Rica and is currently living there with her husband, Suri and their 3 daughters. She was a Math professor, but has decided to dedicate her time to her family and learning English. When Xenia is not running the dorms, she spends her spare time dancing with her family’s dance group and gardening.
