Just playing with the kids or interacting in the classroom helps them tremendously and affords them the attention they donīt get at home.
My name is Emily Krueger and I am from Michigan. My experience with uVolunteer in Costa Rica has been great. I canīt imagine a more beautiful place, and my understanding of the world has definitely been broadened.
It also helps me to realize that we are all truly the same, even though we speak different languages and come from different cultures.
I work at the Christian Community Center in a very poor area of San Ramón. At the center I helped children (and the community) in two ways: by doing construction work on a classroom which will enable the center to really help teach the influx of kids that they see; just playing with the kids or interacting in the classroom helps them tremendously and affords them the attention they donīt get at home.
It also helps me to realize that we are all truly the same, even though we speak different languages and come from different cultures.
