My uVolunteer experience started on February 18, 2011 and lasted for two weeks. It has been an incredible experience from the moment I arrived in Costa Rica.

Project: Volunteer in Building and Constructing Homes in Costa Rica
It was a tough first few days digging a massive hole, but it is just the type of hard work that I had envisioned when I signed up for the construction project.
My uVolunteer experience started on February 18, 2011 and lasted for two weeks. It has been an incredible experience from the moment I arrived in Costa Rica. The uVolunteer staff was very attentive to my needs right from the moment I walked out of the airport. 
I look forward to sharing my experience with my friends and family.
I instantly felt at home when I arrived at the uVolunteer Dorm, which was pleasantly clean and welcoming. I spent the first few days acclimating myself with my new surroundings.
On Monday I traveled with Suri to the construction site where I would be assisting in the construction of a new house. It was a tough first few days digging a massive hole, but it is just the type of hard work that I had envisioned when I signed up for the construction project. The construction workers were extremely kind and fun to work with. It was truly both an educational and eye opening experience taking part the in the building of a home. On Thursday evening, Andres was kind enough to let me take part in a weekly soccer game that he and Suri play in. I had a blast playing soccer with the local Ticos. For the weekend I traveled to La Fortuna with a few of the other volunteers. The rest of my second week was spent continuing me work at the construction site.
Overall, I had an amazing time volunteering in Costa Rica. Getting to know the local San Ramon culture and learning about life in Costa Rica has been most beneficial to me. I look forward to sharing my experience with my friends and family.
