Program Volunteer Costa Rica
Project: Volunteer Teaching Sports and Physical Education in Costa Rica
My time with the program I think went pretty good. I arrived not really knowing how volunteer programs are like. My time with the program I think went pretty good. I arrived not really knowing how volunteer programs are like.
My placement over all could have been a lot better if would have been more organized. I think most of the kids will remember I the future.
I arrived on that Friday and when Monday came I felt like it was the longest weekend I have ever had.
On Wednesday I started working with Silvia after I found out the physical education class would be seven hours...
My first three days at the orphanage were little bit boring since there was like only three kids there, because the other were in school. My first weekend was really fun but went by really fast at Limon. By the second week the kids started to talk to me more and some wanted to play soccer with me. My second week was spent at Tamarindo but I didn't like it to much because there was a lot tourist. Also because the weekend was basically spent in the bus the whole time. We only had Sunday morning to swim and part of Saturday to see the volcano.
My third week was differently, changed since Silvia had left and I was beginning to work with Jean. We began cleaning up the library that was a huge mess. My third weekend was a long one at La Fortuna. We left on Thursday, it was my first time riding a horse which was a great experience. Also the waterfall and the Baldi hot springs was really worth it. My last week was spent finishing up the room and letting the kids in to use the toys. Over all I think I had a pretty good experience and I think my Spanish improved which was a big reason for working at the orphanage.
