Program Locations

Our projects in Ecuador are located in several locations; Teaching English, Child Care and our Under deprived Education Centre project placements are located in Quito. Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is a town with a low economic situation and thus has many social economic problems. Our Community Development, Amazonian project is located in the Amazon rain forest in Pastaza 9 hours away from Quito city. And our Environment Conservation project is located in Alto Choco besides the natural wealth and beauty of Intag, close to the communities of Pucará and Santa Rosa.

Volunteer Teaching English

Our teaching projects available in Costa Rica are for those volunteers who are interested in working with children and teaching basic English, Computers, Math's, Art and Sports. Projects are available in rural communities in the central valley, as well as in the Pacific and Caribbean Coasts. We work with schools and institutions that are severely under-funded and lack the resources to provide adequate education.

Optional Intensive Spanish Lessons for beginners

This course is based in Quito and can be tailored to your level of Spanish. We recommend this program for volunteers whose projects placements will benefit from being able to communicate efficiently in Spanish. The language program classes run for two - four hours per day, depending on which course you choose, for five days.

If you want to take the intensive Spanish language program then it would be best if you have also chosen a volunteer project placement based in Quito. Otherwise you will have to spend time first doing your language program then on completion changing location to your project location. This may seem ideal and indeed exactly what some may prefer but others may prefer to partake in the language program and stay within the same location or even simultaneously take the course and the volunteer project placement. We can accommodate most situations so please enquire during application.

Accommodation

Accommodation for each project varies so please check each project's information page for specific details

Project transportation

Transportation is arranged to from the airport to your project location in Quito. For volunteers who have chosen to be based in the Amazon rain forest or in the Alto Choco reserve, a representative of uVolunteer will great you at airport pick-up, arrange and assist you with your transport information and planning to you project location. This representative may either travel with you to your project destination or place you on suitable transportation; and arrange for you to be picked-up at your destination.
