uVolunteer General FAQs
Do you place volunteers with other local organizations or do you run your own projects?
uVolunteer develops and funds grass root environmental, ecotourism, community development and teaching projects in many areas. We do so by partnering with local organizations that are already working in a particular area of need that is under-funded and requires economical assistance. We feel that local organizations best know their communities problems and needs; we try not to impose external ideas on these societies unless needed and we will only intiate projects in instances where the communities agree that volunteers will be beneficial to them. Our role is one of support and teaching of skills that enables the communities to be self sufficient and sustainable.
In some cases we are approached by the communities to develop specific projects that, due to several lacking factors (professional skills, funding or manpower), a local organization would not be able to manage. When doing so we work closely with community leaders or local groups.
