Meet our colleagues in Ghana

In Ghana, we have a uVolunteer representative staff that works to provide a fulfilling and safe volunteer abroad experience. The staff members in Ghana are not only a part of the uVolunteer team, but also natives that can offer advice only known by locals. Like all of our programs, each volunteer will have 24-hour connection with uVolunteer in-country staff.

Prince Clayman Arkoh - Program Manager

Prince Clayman Arkoh is a self-motivated and energetic uVolunteer partner who has a passion for the development of Ghana. His passion for helping those that may not have a voice or are not able to better their situation has led him to working for this cause. He has a Bachelors in Information Technology and Communication Studies, and Business Management and Administration from the Institute of Commercial Management (UK). Although his studies do not concentrate on community development, Prince has years of experience in volunteer management and project development. He also worked as the assistant data officer for the Ghana Post Company. But now he commits his time to helping the vulnerable people of his community. In his free time, Prince enjoys football, swimming, reading novels, hiking and travelling.

Theresa T. Kunlie - Program Manager

Born in Wa in the upper west region of Ghana, Theresa is a human rights advocate. She has her Bachelors in Educational Psychology from the University of Cape Coast, and a Bachelors in Law from the University of Ghana. She worked with an exchange program for 2 years as a program coordinator before deciding to partner up with Stephen Duodo in 2003 to start the program in Ghana. This relationship has been very effective because of their experience in volunteer, administrative and program management. She has a passion to help others, and her understanding of different cultures has made her an expert in directing volunteer abroad projects in Ghana.

Stephen Duodu - Program Manager

Born in Dunkwa Offin, Stephen has his Masters in Science and Electrical Engineering, and is currently working on another Masters in Economic Policy Management at University of Ghana, which he will complete by the end of 2009. Stephen and Theresa have successfully created this program in Ghana because they both share the same belief, that the amazing power of volunteering abroad will educate and promote sustainability within Ghana. Stephen creates a safe and positive experience for all the volunteers that choose this program.

Joan Gyambeng - Volunteer Coordinator

Joan was born and raised in Accra the capital city of Ghana. Before becoming the volunteer coordinator of Ghana, she worked with a number of organizations including the Ghana ports and harbor authorities, and several job placement agencies. Joan is enthusiastic and passionate about her job. She wants to provide the ideal support and assistance to volunteers from arrival to the end of their stay in Ghana. She picks up volunteers at the air port upon their arrival, and takes them to their home stay. Joan is very approachable and is always eager to help volunteers.

Mankama Ahmed - Community Liaisons Officer

Mankama has a Bachelors of Business Administration from the Islamic University, and Accounting from the University of Ghana-Legon. He became inspired to take-up other responsibilities that contribute to creating the public awareness on women and child rights especially in his community. His knowledge in tourism within Ghana has given him the opportunity to work as the program’s tour guide, and he successfully shows all volunteers what his beautiful country has to offer. He has excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills. With his understanding of the diverse cultures in Ghana, he is the responsible liaison between community heads, leaders and volunteers.

Rebekka Erkens - International Coordinator

Rebekka Erkens is originally from Germany, and has lived in Ghana for the past year. She came to Ghana as a volunteer, teaching English to the community. After 6 months, she became the program’s international coordinator. Beki has a background in education, and project management. She is responsible for supplying all the resources and tools to promote, and establish the various projects being undertaken by the program. In her free times she loves to read, paint, swim, listen to music, and research.

Rosemary Huno - Project Coordinator

Rosemary studied Physical Science at the University of Ghana-Legon in Ghana. She was born in a small village called Dzodze in the Volta Region of Ghana. As a youth leader in her community, she advocates for their reproductive and sexual rights. Rosemary joined the organization as an intern in 2006, and later returned to work as the Accounts Officer. Her responsibility is to monitor and evaluate each project. In her free time, she loves to read, play with kids and travel.

Albert Mensah - Security

The welfare and security of volunteers is the main priority of our organization. Albert has been working as Security for the past 10 years. Before joining this organization, he was a security officer for the Ghana Post Company limited. Albert joined the organization in 2007 during an HIV/AIDS Awareness outreach program as a volunteer. He has contributed immensely to the safety of volunteers in all projects. Albert is a happy person who is popular among staff and volunteers. He is married with one child, and loves to play soccer and travel.
