The culture in this area is reflected through its people, their customs, traditions, society, art, dance and music. The main influence of this country is the Swahili Culture and the Maasai culture. The Maasai clothing is unique with its extremely colorful and heavily embroidered appearance. The people of the tribe also love to wear heavy jewelry, headgear, necklaces, nose rings, earrings, armlets, anklets and others. Sadly, the community has a very high mortality rate due to the lack of development in health education and the goal is to reduce this high rate. In the Maasai land, educating young girls is not a priority, and girls are forced into early marriages. After getting married girls miss the opportunity of education. As a cultural practice, Female Genital Mutilation is still practiced here. Volunteers help greatly by giving lectures on how important it is to dispose of these cultural behaviors that lead to high mortality rates among many teenage girls.
