Program Volunteer Nicaragua
Project: Volunteer in Rural Sustainable Development in Nicaragua
Spending the nights with the family allowed me to experience how locals live and and learn about local customs and traditions.
My two weeks at Nicaragua Libre were great. The time was filled with work and time to relax and get to know the community. The work was not exactly what I expected but it was still good. Most mornings I worked with one of the managers working on building fences, fixing roads, and other maintenance. Three afternoons a week I taught English classes to members of the community, and the other two I usually spent working on the farm, planting trees or other crops.
Overall, I had a great time and rewarding experience. Thank you for all of the work you guys put in to make it possible.
The main thing that made this experience great though was the people. My host family and the rest of the people in the community are incredible inclusive, sharing, caring and willing to share their local culture and learn about yours. They also were always looking out for my needs. Spending the nights with the family allowed me to experience how locals live and and learn about local customs and traditions. Overall, I had a great time and rewarding experience. Thank you for all of the work you guys put in to make it possible.
