Program Volunteer Nicaragua
Project: Volunteer in Rural Sustainable Development in Nicaragua
I left work every day with a huge smile on my face and an all around good feeling.
Jessie volunteered with the Child Care project in Costa Rica as well as the Rural Sustainable Development project in Nicaragua.
I volunteered with two totally different jobs. Both were incredible and life changing experiences that I will never forget. uVolunteer make my time volunteering extremely enjoyable and easy going.
My first job was working at a day care center in Costa Rica. I loved going to work every day and seeing my kids. They were always positive and fun to be around. The staff I worked with told me everyday how glad and grateful they were to have me there. I left work every day with a huge smile on my face and an all around good feeling.
The peoples faces and stories will never stop affecting my thoughts and ideas and I consider that a huge impression to leave on someone.
My second job was on a farm in Nicaragua close to Granada. I was the first volunteer to be sent there by uVolunteer and I think because of that I went expecting a completely different experience. I was told I would be working with the farmers on the fields and such but what my experience actually ended up being was a cleaner. The farm had tourists coming to the farm and we would clean up after them and ourselves. Luckily I was able to teach English classes to the local families which I truly enjoyed. I ended up still being an incredible experience although it was different than my expectations.
I would say that the reason my experiences with uVolunteer were so valuable was because of the people. Every person I met while volunteering seemed to have added some thing to my experience. It wasn’t only my kids I worked with or the adults, it was the local ticos and nicas, uVolunteer staff and volunteers and the so many people I met while traveling. The peoples faces and stories will never stop affecting my thoughts and ideas and I consider that a huge impression to leave on someone.
