Travel Insurance Policy

Our program fees include a free Travel and Medical Insurance Policy through International Volunteer Card. The volunteer card is valid for one year and multiple trips abroad and includes features such as:

$1,000 Baggage & Personal Effects
$150 Travel Document Replacement (covers administration fees)
$100 Baggage Delay
$25,000 Accident Medical Expense
$25,000 Sickness Medical Expense

Note: This policy only covers single trips for durations of up to 90 days. You will need to upgrade or arrange further cover if your program is longer this period.

Upgrade Your Insurance: For an additional $10 you can upgrade to the Volunteer Card Annual Premium Plan. This policy covers single trips for a duration of up to 180 days and includes the following:

Trip Cancelation Policy

We highly recommend, although it is not compulsory, that you purchase trip cancellation insurance in addition to your International Volunteer Card. Trip cancellation will cost approximately 4% of your program fee. Please see Trip Cancellation policy document.

24-hour Assistance

With the International Volunteer Card insurance, you will receive 24-hour assistance anywhere in the world. Whether you need to make an emergency phone call or just need directions call the number on the back of the card and IVC are there for you.

Our Plans

Advancement of funds - to cover on-site medical expenses.
Language Interpretation - services in major languages.
Replacement of lost passport - and other travel documents as may be required.
Assistance to locate local physicians - as well as dentists, or medical facilities.
24-hour emergency live messaging - families, doctors, and other services.
24-hour access to Professional Medical guidance - Professionals will monitor the Insured's condition and contact the insured's personal physician.
LiveTravel - 24-hour hotline to make emergency travel changes once travel has commenced, such as rebooking flights, hotel reservations and tracking lost luggage.
Live Messaging - relay of e-mail or phone message to family, friends, or business associates.
Pre-trip Travel Advice - around-the-clock access to passport, visa, inoculation, and vaccine requirements; travel advisories; embassy and consulate contacts; travel health advisories; weather and currency information - all for your planned destination.
Emergency Cash Transfer - assistance in coordinating an emergency cash advance.

Although we have included a Standard Travel Insurance Policy as part of your program, it is your responsibility to ensure that this policy and any upgrade covers all activities that you will be involved in during your volunteer program; including activities you do during your free time when you travel around your Host Country. This insurance cover is an agreement between you and International Volunteer Card and NOT between you and uVolunteer. We only purchase this cover for you because we believe that all volunteer vacations should include a standard travel insurance policy.
