Volunteer based on this project will working with the IT teachers of a few elementary school that need help with their IT program. If you are a specialist in a particular area you may run a small work shop. Because of the language barrier, there will always be a Thai IT teacher available to help with the lessons and translations. Everyone is welcome on this program, you do not have to be a computer whizz kid. Most University student will have required level of computer literacy.

Where will I be volunteering?

Our teaching English program is based in several elementary schools in and around the city of Trat, in the Southern Eastern province of Trat, Thailand.

What will I be doing?

You will be teaching basic or advanced computer lessons to the students at elementary and high schools in Trat. Volunteers will be assisting a Thai teacher with several different basic and advanced computer and software lessons, including Windows XP, Word Processing, Excel, and Photoshop. Class sizes are large, so teachers greatly benefit from having an assistant during class.

What is required to volunteer on this project?

  • Language Requirement: Intermediate English
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years old, or 17 with authorization

What will my schedule be like?

uVolunteer believes that you should have a well balanced work and play schedule. This means you will only be required to work 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday) for a maximum of 6 hours per day. For the remainder of your time, you will be free to enjoy the vacationing aspects of your trip.

Will I be able to communicate with family and friends?

Yes, internet cafes in Trat give you the opportunity to communicate with your friends and family. You will also find pay phones dispersed throughout town, which you can use to make local or international calls with a calling card. Cheap cellphone and prepaid cards are also readily available.

What can I do in my free time?

uVolunteer anticipates and encourages your desire for travel and adventure. Your time away from volunteering is open for you to decide your activities. You may decide to take advantage of the local culture and spend time within the community over the weekend. Otherwise, there is ample opportunity to explore Thailand and all it has to offer.
