uVoCórdoba, Argentinalunteer currently has four different exciting projects in the beautiful country of Argentina. All are based in and around the enchanting city of Córdoba. Whether you are volunteering in a women’s rights center or teaching English right in the heart of the city, in the Calamuchita Valley with the animal conservation program or at a day care center in Villa Allende, you will have the amazing opportunity to experience Córdoba and all it has to offer.

Córdoba is Argentina’s second largest city, having grown with the modernization of the country while maintaining aspects of Argentina’s fascinating colonial history. CórdobaCórdoba, Argentina was first settled by the Spanish in 1570 and has since grown to roughly 1.3 million inhabitants. Once the capital city, Córdoba has a strong history in education and the arts. The city has come a long way, developing into an urban center with all the amenities of a major city. Art shows and galleries, restaurants, bars, parks, and local concerts and cultural activities and festivals are abundant. It has however been able to keep its Spanish charm, evident in the maCórdoba, Argentinany colonial buildings, particularly the universities and churches.

There are countless opportunities for cultural immersion in the city of Córdoba. The country’s first university was founded here by the Jesuits shortly after the city’s founding. It now houses a museum and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Córdoba is also home to Argentina’s first theater, opened in 1891. Symphonies, plays and ballets are regularly preformed at this on time opera house. The city’s colonial feel along with the spectacular views of the surrounding Sierra ChicaCórdoba, Argentina mountain range of the Andes mountains on the edge of the Suquía River makes for an amazing experience.

The more adventurous can head just outside of the city to the beautiful Sierras de Cordoba, Cordoba Hills, where one can go on trekking, mountain climbing, para-gliding and other excursions. With temperatures ranging from fifty to eighty five deCórdoba, Argentinagrees Fahrenheit year round, allowing for a wide range of activities.
