POSITION 1 - Description: Online Marketing/New Business Development Intern
Job Location: San Ramon- Alajuela, Costa Rica
Organization Description: uVolunteer is a volunteer placement organization catering to individuals seeking a meaningful travel experience. With volunteer placements in the popular and culturally rich countries of Costa Rica, Bolivia, and Ecuador, volunteers can engage in various aspects of community development such as Teaching English, Community Restoration, Eco-tourism, Conservation, Environment, and Media & Technology. uVolunteer implements and supports the development of these programs by supplying local projects with international volunteers and hence promoting the exchange of culture, knowledge, and skills.
Job Description: As the Online Marketing/Business Development Intern you will be working alongside the Director and his in-country staff in San Ramon, Costa Rica. uVolunteer is a small organization in its 2nd year of operations and has undergone a rapid growth in business during ealry its years. Due to this we are constantly tweaking our systems to improve our organization and are looking for someone flexible and ready to contribute to this process.
Responsibilities:
- Author content and marketing material for the website
- Develop marketing campaigns for volunteer and project recruitment
- Manage online ad campaigns
- Maintain online communities and update blogs
- Assist with business expansion phase in the Central Valley
- Collaborate within the organizational expansion program
Job Requirements:
Applicant should be working towards a degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field and possess a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently. Applicants should also have strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong written, copy writing, and editing skills. Knowledge of HTML and SEO is preferred but not required. Internship candidates should be capable of remaining calm and efficient under pressure, and be flexibility and able to take direction and accept feedback. Lastly, interns with uVolunteer should be enthusiastic to work in a different culture and relish the opportunity to work in a challenging environment. While Spanish proficiency is not required for the job it will be helpful for day to day life in San Ramon.

Salary & benefits:

POSITION 2 - Description: Volunteer Coordinator
uVolunteer Costa Rica (http://www.uvolunteer.org) is now recruiting an volunteer coordinator to manage its volunteers and projects.
You will be working alongside the Country director of uVolunteer Costa Rica and his in country staff. You will be responsible for the day to day coordination of our volunteers and projects.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for making each new arrival feel welcome and secure in their new environment.
- You will help maintain effective communication between head office in the central valley and the location you will be based.
- You will assist in setting-up new work placements and finalizing accommodation arrangements for future volunteers.
- You will be required to send weekly feedback and news to head office.
- You will provide editorial and marketing material for sections of our website
- There is great opportunity for promotion to Program Director
Our requirements
You should be:
- You should be a university graduate. Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Have an upper intermediate to an advance level of Spanish. (This will be tested)
- Be physically fit.
- Have a mature attitude and outlook.
- Be capable to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
- Be an excellent communicator with people of all ages and cultures.
- Be a team player who enjoys working as part of a team.
- Be flexible and able to take direction and accept feedback.
- Be friendly and personable with customer service skills, you must respond well to others. Enthusiastic to work in a different culture and relish the opportunity to work in a challenging environment.
- Have good computer skills.
- TEFL / TESOL qualification would be an advantage.
Contract:
The volunteer coordinator position is offered as a 1 year contract. The first 3 months is a probation period. During this period uVolunteer will pay ALL agreed daily work related expenses and will provide transportation in the form of a bicycle
You will be paid a salary of 200USD per month for the duration of your contract. After your probation period you will be given an accommodation stipend of 200USD per month in additional to your salary.

POSITION 3 - Description: Desk Officer, Travel Advisor & Customer Serice
uVolunteer is a volunteer vacations company. We place international volunteers in schools and community projects in Latin America.
We are now recruiting a Desk Officer for our head offices in San Ramon Alajuela. This role is an administrative role where and you will be in charge of all inquiries, applications and pre-arrival information for participants of our programs.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for responding to all leads and inquires
- Providing customer service via email, telephone and live chat
- Coordinating all participants pre-arrival Information
- Contributing content to our online journal and project listings
- Visiting Projects around Costa Rica to inspect and writing reports of progress
- Interviewing Volunteers for our videos on YouTube
- Content creation (in English) for our website
- Becoming involved in other aspect of our volunteer management service when required
Requirements
- Excellent English a must, strong Spanish language skills
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Must write English fluently and be exceptional writer
- Marketing & customer service skills
- Bright, clever, highly organized & ambitious
- Proficient in MS Office & Windows
- Be a Self Manager
- Experience with Internet technology
- Able to work weekends if need be
- Motivated, detail oriented, adaptable and goal-oriented person
Compensation & Benefits
Salary circa 400-500USD+ per month depending on experience. We can help find suitable accommodation in San Ramon, accommodation is your expense. Full Costa Rican work benefits.
Interview
if you are successful in interview we will invite you to spend a few days with us here in San Ramon. If you are successful after this stage we will offer you a 12 month contract.
